Emmanuel Selase Asamoah, graduate of Tomas Bata University in Zlín, is the most successful international graduate in the Czech Republic. He received the Award from the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research, which announces this reputable contest annually.  The Czech National Agency for International Education and Research focuses on international cooperation in education and supports the participation of individuals as well as of institutions in activities carried out at the international level.

Emmanuel Selase Asamoah comes from Ghana and he has completed a doctoral programme at the Faculty of Management and Economics. He very much appreciates the Award, because growing up in his home country was not easy at all.

“My mother died when I was twelve, and our father did not care for us. Studies were thus very difficult for me, and I had to find a part-time job and earn some extra money to be able to pay the fees at the secondary school and at the university,” said Emmanuel. After he got a degree in psychology and sociology at the University of Ghana in 2006, he went abroad to continue studies and broaden his horizons. “My dream was to become a university teacher, because I want to help young people and motivate them to study,” he added.

He is currently employed at the University of Professional Studies in Accra as the youngest Head of the Department of Business Administration. He has also worked as a consultant to the UN in the sphere of investment opportunities in Ghana and is also a mentor to and legal representative of disadvantaged children and women in Ghana.

“Emmanuel won the Award from among tens of nominations from all higher education institutions in the Czech Republic,” said Ing. Michaela Blahová, Ph.D., Vice-Rector for Internationalization.  “We greatly appreciate the accomplishment achieved by Emmanuel. A graduate well-equipped for the global labour market, competitive at the international level, who spreads a good word about our University abroad is the best promotion tool for TBU. We are greatly delighted that talented and ambitious applicants who have excellent career prospects in the international labour market apply for studies at TBU,” added Michaela Blahová.

The Award conferred by the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research is a positive appraisal of the activities which we carry out at the international level, both in the area of education as well as in research and development. At the same time, it commits us to continue in the provision of high quality education to applicants from all over the world,” said Prof. Ing. Vladimír Sedlařík, Ph.D., Rector of TBU.
