In early August, Tomas Bata University in Zlín (TBU) hosted its traditional Summer Schools, organized this year for the eighth time. The 2025 edition welcomed over 50 participants from Europe and Asia who participated in four specialised courses across various faculties.

Two of the offered courses were implemented under the Erasmus+ programme in the form of Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP). The Faculty of Applied Informatics organised the course Cybernetics and Informatics, which brought more than twenty students from partner universities in Portugal, Greece, Slovakia, and Latvia to Zlín. The Faculty of Technology offered the programme Sustainability in Polymers, joined by 19 attendees from partner universities in Poland, Germany, Portugal, and Slovakia. These courses enabled them to link theory with practice and develop their professional skills in a multicultural environment.

Another course, Digital Entrepreneurship in Tourism, organised by the Faculty of Management and Economics, attracted candidates from South Korea and China. It focused on modern trends in the tourism business with an emphasis on digital innovation and creativity. The Faculty of Logistics and Crisis Management offered its traditional online course, Processes of Risk Assessment and Treatment, attended by students from Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands.

The TBU Summer Schools provided attendees not only with valuable academic knowledge but also with opportunities to build international friendships, share experiences across cultures, and take part in several cultural and social events. One of the international participants described the atmosphere as follows:
“The staff was very kind and helpful, from the dormitory employees to the professors, they were always available and supportive. Zlín fostered a great pedagogical and social environment where there was always motivation to do more.”

Prof. Marek Kubalčík, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation, emphasised after the successful completion of the courses and the awarding of certificates to all graduates: “Our international Summer Schools contribute significantly to strengthening the global dimension of our university. We are delighted that students from Europe and Asia come to Zlín to study together and share their experiences. The Erasmus+ BIP programme also allows us to introduce modern and attractive forms of education that strengthen our position on the international academic map.”
The TBU Summer Schools 2025 once again confirmed their role as an important platform for professional development, intercultural dialogue, and the advancement of European and global cooperation.
