The second week of March at Tomas Bata University in Zlín was dedicated to strengthening cooperation with Japanese universities. Two distinguished academic delegations visited the university to present their expertise and explore opportunities for long-term partnerships in education, research, and innovation.
The Faculty of Humanities welcomed representatives from the University of Teacher Education Fukuoka – Mayuri Arimatsu and Professor Tsuyoshi Ninomiya. Their discussions focused not only on joint educational initiatives and exchange programmes, but also on approaches to educating gifted pupils and methodologies in adult education. Both sides shared experience with modern pedagogical strategies that can enrich teaching and support the development of students’ and educators’ competencies.
At the Faculty of Applied Informatics, meetings were held with experts from The University of Electro-Communications in Tokyo: Professor Kayoko Yamamoto, Professor Shigeko Iwamoto, and Professor Hiroki Furukawa. During their visit, they expressed interest in topics such as systems engineering, knowledge transfer into the educational process, and the application of these principles in corporate practice. A key topic was also collaboration with the research teams of Professor Roman Jašek, who specialize in system solutions for security and process continuity within Internet of Things architectures.
The visits highlighted the growing importance of Czech–Japanese academic cooperation and opened new avenues for joint projects, research activities, and mobility of students and scholars.
