Tomas Bata University in Zlín (TBU) continued to intensively develop its international cooperation throughout the summer holidays and before the start of the semester. The TBU International Office, in cooperation with individual faculties, offered international students a diverse academic program that combined modern online learning with blended on-site Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programs (BIP).
Three Intensive Online Courses at FLCR
The Faculty of Logistics and Crisis Management (FLCR) organized a series of three two-week online courses from late July to late August. The instruction focused on the use of geographic information systems in crisis management within the course Geographic Information Systems in Applied Crisis Management, fundamentals of logistics and simulation modeling were taught as part of course titled Fundamentals of Logistics, and students had the opportunity to study risk assessment and management processes during the traditional course Processes of Risk Assessment and Treatment. Most of the total 26 participants came from Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands.
International Erasmus+ BIP Programs at FT, FMC, and FLCR
Three university faculties actively participated in organising blended Erasmus+ BIP programs, which combine a virtual component with an on-site stay. First, the Faculty of Technology (FT) organized the course Science and Technology Behind Environmental Protection for 18 students from five partner universities in Austria, Estonia, Slovenia, and Poland (which represented two institutions). The program offered participants laboratory workshops and practical insights into modern technologies in environmental engineering.
This initiative was followed in September by the Faculty of Multimedia Communications (FMC), where the Arts Management studio hosted the summer school The Future-proof Cultural Institutions. A total of 22 students and experts from Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, and Finland explored how artificial intelligence, sustainability, and audience engagement are transforming the future of cultural organizations during this intensive program.
The series of summer programs concluded with the international student symposium ISSLIB 2026, organized after seven years by the Faculty of Logistics and Crisis Management (FLCR) in Uherské Hradiště. Nearly 40 students and academics from European partner universities focused on topics of sustainability, circular economy, and smart logistics in practice through hands-on challenge solving and company visits.
The long-standing tradition of summer schools at TBU continues to evolve and adapt to modern trends. The ongoing interest in online courses and the expansion of blended formats under the Erasmus+ program confirm that the university is successfully deepening its international ties with European partner institutions.
