prof. Mgr. Roman Jašek, Ph.D. is the Head of the Department of Informatics and Artificial Intelligence at the Faculty of Applied Informatics at Tomas Bata University in Zlín. Currently, he is a guarantor of Master and PhD study programme Information Technology, specialising in Cyber Security and Software Engineering. In close cooperation with experts, he organises regular meetings of cybersecurity experts called “Process Management and Application of Modern Technologies”.
For many years prof. Jašek held the position of the Vice President of the European Security Association. He participated in leading the military experts training of the V4 countries. He is a co-author of the international patent for “Identity and licence verification system for working with highly sensitive data”. He has led several research projects in applied sciences and has been awarded many prizes. More than ten students earned their doctoral degree under his supervision. His scientific and publishing activities can be found at https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9831-9372.
What he says about his work:
“My biggest success and professional happiness are that I work in a team with very hard working and smart people. We work on meaningful projects and in areas that fulfil us. In addition to working in applied research for the industry of the information technology, we are working on our projects to explore human brain activities, and using artificial intelligence, deep data analysis, and machine learning, we try to objectify therapies in collaboration with brain surgeons and physiotherapists. Yes, I love my job, and my work fulfils me. I always realise with deep respect and humility how everything in our Universe is interconnected, everything is connected with everything and in general, how little we know. ”
About the department:
The Institute of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence is one of the key departments of the Faculty of Applied Informatics. It consists of four specialised laboratories – focused on areas relating to both basic and applied research. The Penetration Testing and Applied Cryptography Laboratory (PTLAB), the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (AILAB), the Advanced Embedded Systems Laboratory (EMLAB), and the Brain Machine Interface Systems Lab (BMLAB). The Institute Laboratories resolve problems related to Process Optimisation and Simulation, Mathematical Modelling, Cryptography, the Theory and Application of Artificial Intelligence Methods; all characterised by high mutual synergy and linked to Cyber Security.
The Institute undertakes study programmes at all Higher Education levels including doctoral study programme Information Technology and Cyber Security.
