There are plenty of great places to eat in Zlín. But what are some good and affordable restaurants for students? We’re sure you must love going to the school canteen, which is a great option. But we’ve got tips for you on some of Zlín restaurants where you can eat well and at a good price if you’re not in the mood for canteen food.
In the Czech Republic, it’s more than common to take advantage of bargain prices at almost every restaurant, usually from 11am to 3pm on weekdays and only for specific pre-determined meals. Therefore, it is best to go to the restaurant at this time and check in advance if the restaurant offers these special menus. 1. Prašád
Prašád is a vegetarian restaurant, so their food does not contain meat, fish or eggs. Every day they offer at least one vegan and one gluten-free dish. The food is prepared with fresh ingredients. The dishes are based mainly on vegetables, but also on chips, cereals, nuts, seeds and fruit. The exceptions are meat fillings such as tofu, tempeh and vegetarian sausages.

2. Umbrella
In this restaurant you will find a variety of pizzas as well as great classic dishes. In addition to good food they also offer great South African wines, Pilsner beer on tap and Spanish coffee.

3. Kozlovna
In this restaurant you can experience great Czech cuisine with classic recipes with an emphasis on fresh ingredients without the use of flavourings and artificial ingredients. They also have really great beer and a very nice windowed terrace.

4. Budvarka
Budvarka is a branded restaurant of the Czech premium beer Budweiser Budvar. Therefore they have a well treated draft beer and they also offer traditional Czech gastronomy.

5. Makalu
The Nepalese-Indian restaurant Makalu is located in the centre of Zlín. In the restaurant you can taste a variety of Nepalese and Indian traditional dishes, with a selection of typical side dishes and you can choose the spiciness for each dish. The daily menus are very cheap and the portions quite large.
6. Vyhlídka
Vyhlídka focus on both modern and traditional Czech cuisine. You can taste delicious sauces and seasonal specialties. You can also try Pilsner beer and specialties from the smoker.

7. Viet Village
Vietnamese cuisine is one of the most popular Asian cuisines around the world due to its diversity and distinctive flavor. Vietnamese cuisine is characterised by the use of fresh herbs and spices such as coriander, mint, lemongrass, garlic and chilli, as well as the use of healthy and balanced ingredients such as rice, vegetables and fish. Here you can try authentic dishes such as pho, bun cha, nem, banh mi and many other specialties.

8. U Ševce
Restaurant U Ševce is located in the centre of Zlín. The interior of the restaurant uses typical accessories in the style of the old “Bat’a” Zlín and is decorated in grey, red and white colours combined with wood. They have a choice of several types of steaks, burgers, but also salads or roast ribs and wings.

9. Faency Fries
Faency Fries is a young (fast food) place where they prepare fries according to an original recipe. They fry exclusively in vegetable oil, and the fries are suitable for both vegetarians and vegans. The last step before serving is just to salt them with alpine salt in the right amount to bring out the overall taste. The fries are served in their original cone with a dip of your choice.
